Welcome to my website, dear visitor. My name is Ender, and I'm a teenage dirtbag who's passionate about the sciences and random 2000's media. This is my personal site where we yap to the void and enjoy chill CRT vibes. You can check out my shelves to view my collections of mortal possessions, take a peek at my writing if and when I have the motivation to write, or go enjoy some other cool websites via the buttons and webrings on this page. Check back often for new updates, and feel free to sign the guestbook while you're here!

Proof That I'm Alive (as of November)

Pixel art sprite of an open empty coffin, with infrequent blue sparks flashing inside the coffin.

If you are reading this right now, I am not dead. I felt it was important to make this point clear because I haven't updated this website in at least two months due to fatigue... Hell, it took me a week to write this small post. Yet, the main reason why I'm writing this, instead of choosing to ignore my absence, is to talk through some progress I have made, as well as goals I possess for building this website further. After all, the best ways to stick to a commitment are written accountability and social accountability, and this post counts as both of those. I'll try to keep this short, though, in case anyone is actually reading.

Progress?

I actually am almost done with that article I said I was writing; I genuinely just decided to procrastinate at the last minute because I lost all motivation to exist for two months. I can't give a real deadline that I can commit to, but all I have left to do is write the conclusion and edit for clarity and cohesion. It's not going to be a ridiculously in-depth 500-page article on the extensive history and technology of linguistics, but it's a humble foundational guide to my favorite conlang (and the weird letters in my site banner!).

I've been working on some art too, but perspective is difficult and animation is difficult. Despite those two problems, I've been working on animating Glitch's features that aren't their tail (animating bouncing balls is overrated by the way, tail wag is the definitive first animation exercise), and I'm cleaning up an alternative sprite that works better for running and fighting animations (in other words, I'm making them into a Sonic Advance sprite because I am an unoriginal creature). I'm not good at pixel art --- I just like making pixel art.

Goals!

  1. Updating the games cabinet: This week I uncovered my parents' PS1 that was buried in our storage, and they let me keep it in my room. I actually just finished a game of Top Shop with my mom (peak gaming), and yeah, the console works like brand new. So, a new games cabinet section is called for! I also need to update the other sections since I have gotten a few more games (oh my god Sonic X Shadow Generations is peak oh my god).
  2. Making an art section: This shouldn't be too difficult; the only reason why I'm stalling is because I'm not truly sure if my silly little sprites count as art that should be displayed. The only reason why I'm adding this at all is because I'm really salty about losing my childhood doodles when my PC got corrupted, so I might as well share my current silly doodles somewhere as a precautionary measure.
  3. Writing scientific articles: I really like writing scientific articles. I'm actually considering porting some of the articles I wrote for a crappy Wordpress portfolio over here, but I feel like the formal academic writing style I use in those articles becomes so uncanny when viewed on my current website. Regardless of what I choose to do with those articles and my writing style identity crisis, though, I do want to write more original content for this website on some cool scientific advancements I find. I'm not sure yet, however, if I'll write them in a casual style or in my fancy academic style.
  4. Making a music section: I have accrued a large collection of music onto my iPhone via the power of YoutubeToMP3 (music piracy isn't dead yar har har, I condone piracy), and I think it would be simple and fun to organize my current playlists and albums into an iPod display for Webdeck. Alternatively, I'll just post them all as a second homepage playlist if I get lazy.

I have more things to say, but I am physically forcing myself to sit here and write this against my will and I'm getting sleepy. I think I have proven that I am alive and that was my goal. I'm off to make a tea and play Sonic X Shadow Generations now, bye bye!
